Parkinson’s gene mutation

A gene mutation has been separately identified by three research groups as the cause of around one in 25 cases of Parkinson’s disease. Screening for the mutation, present in a gene called LRRK2, could become a component of genetic testing for Parkinson’s disease in the near future. The studies appear as early online papers on The Lancet website (www.thelancet.com).
