Majority of pharmacists have now renewed their registration for 2005
Helped by a quick and efficient system for online payment, well over half of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s members have now paid their retention fees for 2005.
As of 18 January, a total of 28,044 members had renewed their registrations,
24,217 of them as practising pharmacists and 3,827
as non-practising. This equates to about one in 7.3 so far choosing to
register as non-practising.
Just under 20,000 pharmacists have still not paid. Some will have chosen
not to renew their registration, but no figures are available from the
Society for the number who have so far indicated that they are making
that choice.
Members who have yet to pay their fees have only one week left to do
so before they are issued with a statutory demand. Members risk erasure
from the register if payment is not received within two months of receipt
of such a demand.
The Society says that online payment has proved popular, with more than
double the number of pharmacists paying via this method compared with
2004. Payment can be made online using
major credit and debit cards.
Payment can also be made by cheque (sterling cheques drawn on a sterling
account) using the retention fee form and the prepaid envelope provided.
Members will be sent a receipt within 28 days of making payment. Further
information is available from the Society’s registration
section (tel 020 7572 2322; e-mail
registration@rpsgb.org).
