Accommodating reformed Council needs redevelopment at Lambeth
The Society’s Council is to commission an architect to draw up
initial plans for redevelopment in the headquarters building to accommodate
meetings of the reformed Council.
The February Council
meeting was told that the current Council Chamber,
with its purpose-built furniture, would be inadequate to host the new
Council, which would have six more members.
The Society has identified three options for increasing the accommodation.
The option of least change is to gut the Council chamber, redecorate
it and fit it with modular furniture. The second option involves structural
change to incorporate part of an exisiting committee room and foyer into
a slightly larger Council chamber. The third option is to redevelop the
hall and the first floor meeting suite into an integrated, flexible conference
facility.
