CPPE doubles number of new contract workshops

To help contractors in England meet the requirements of the new community pharmacy contract, the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education is doubling the number of its workshops from April to October.

The CPPE will be offering workshops on national as well as local topics. The workshops on national topics will cover “public health framework for practitioners”, running in nearly 100 venues in England from April to June, and “new contractual framework — clinical effectiveness, audit and record keeping”, running from July to September. Other topics, such as self care for minor ailments, nutrition, smoking cessation and practice management, will be chosen to fit the local agenda in each tutor area.

Together with the National Pharmaceutical Association, the CPPE will also be hosting three conferences exploring the support available to pharmacists during the implementation period for the new contract. These will be held at Newcastle-upon-Tyne (27 February), Reading (6 March) and Birmingham (10 April). The CPPE is also developing two open learning programmes: a risk management programme to help contractors implement the clinical governance requirements of the new contract and a repeat dispensing programme entitled “From pathfinders to practice”, which, in February, will be delivered to all pharmacists with a registered address in England.

The CPPE expects its new prospectus, with details of its forthcoming programmes, to appear in the first week of March.
