Society offers contract monitoring service
Primary care trusts and local health boards have been offered a pharmacy contract monitoring service by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
Society chief inspector Jackie Giltrow wrote to trusts and boards last
month reminding them that its inspectors had carried out compliance checks
for many years to make sure that pharmacies met the requirements for
the professional allowance under the current NHS pharmacy contract.
She suggested that the Society could check compliance with new contract
service specifications for about £30 per pharmacy inspected.
“We have had quite a few queries from PCTs about what we can offer
in terms of monitoring,” Mrs Giltrow said. “[The letter]
is a toe in the water to find out if there is any demand for a future
service.
We will have to evaluate the demand and decide whether it is worth our
while going down this route.” |
