Radiopharmacists set to share good practice on web

A web portal for pharmacists working in radiopharmacy is being developed through an initiative supported by the European Union.

Funding of €3m has been awarded by the EU Framework Programme to develop the site (www.virrad.eu.org), which aims to support teaching in radiopharmacy and to share good working practices.

Stephen Mather, of Cancer Research UK, is the project’s co-ordinator. “The problem is that because of [radiopharmacy’s] highly specialised nature, the number of practitioners in any one locality is small,” he commented. “Basing training schemes on conventional classroom scenarios is logistically and financially difficult. VirRAD will improve communications and learning within this specialised area.”
