NPA launches guide to new contract

A step-by-step guide to changes being brought in by the new pharmacy contract in England and Wales has been produced by the National Pharmaceutical Association.

The toolkit, called “New directions — the complete NPA guide to the new pharmacy contract”, explains the issues behind the contract and the options it offers community pharmacists. The package provides practical information with a self-assessment section so that pharmacists can judge how well prepared they are for the changes that start in April.

Chief executive of the NPA, John D’Arcy, said: “Throughout its planning and production, our core objective has been to provide a robust, timely and authoritative resource to help our members understand fully the implications of the new contract.”

The pack is sponsored by GSK UK, which is also handling its distribution. So far 750 requests for the toolkit have been made.

NPA members in England and Wales are entitled to a free copy of the pack on request. It is available by calling 0800 221441 (8am–6pm Monday to Friday) or via email (customercontact@gsk.com).
