Public health White Paper plan launched

Health Secretary John Reid launched a delivery plan for the Government’s White Paper on improving public health in England last week.

“Delivering choosing health: making healthier choices easier” (PDF 1.25 MB)outlines priorities for action for the White Paper pledges, together with suggested time scales, at national, regional and local levels. Two new action plans have also been launched to support the diet and exercise elements of the White Paper, “Choosing a better diet” (PDF 770K) and “Choosing activity” (PDF 620K).

Government plans for pharmacists in public health will not be revealed until the launch of the Department of Health’s strategy for pharmaceutical public health, now expected in October (PJ, 20 November 2004, p739).
