MeReC considers statins

Recent evidence on use of statin therapy to reduce coronary heart disease is reviewed in the latest issue of MeReC Briefing (PDF 2.25MB). MeReC confirms that statins are beneficial for a wide population and that those at highest risk of cardiovascular events gain most benefit from therapy. The February briefing also considers rosuvastatin (Crestor) and ezetimibe (Ezetrol). It suggests that both agents should be reserved for difficult-to-treat patients.
