Pharmacy technician registrations top 500

Following the launch of the voluntary register of pharmacy technicians by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society at the start of 2005, registrations now stand at 523.

Janet Flint, the Society’s head of support staff regulation, said: “I am delighted that there has been such a high level of interest. The Society is continuing to send out packs and take enquiries from further technicians.”

On confirmation of their registration, technicians are sent a certificate of registration and an information leaflet. They also begin to receive The Pharmaceutical Journal weekly. In the month following their registration, practising pharmacy technicians are sent a pack containing details of the Society’s continuing professional development framework.

Pharmacy technicians interested in joining the register should contact the Society’s support staff section (tel 020 7572 2410; e-mail pharmacytechnician@rpsgb.org).
