Funding for local health pilot projects announced
Funding of £1.2m for projects to improve the health of local communities in England was announced last week by public health minister Melanie Johnson.
The initial funding for the Communities for Health programme will go
to a series of pilot projects focusing on obesity, sexual health and
smoking. Extra money will be targeted towards the pilots later this year
and again in 2006 when the schemes will be rolled out nationally. In
addition, a resource pack, Creating
Healthier Communities, with information
on the practical processes and tools needed to improve health in the
most deprived neighbourhoods, has been launched by the Government. |
