Post traumatic stress guideline

How to improve the recognition, screening and treatment of post traumatic stress disorder is addressed in a clinical guideline issued by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence this week.

The guideline recommends that drug therapy should not be used as first-line treatment for adults, in preference to a trauma-focused psychological therapy, but should be considered in those who do not want to engage in psychological treatment.
