Latest BNF now available

BNF 49, the latest edition of the British National Formulary, was published this week. The new edition takes account of recent drug safety issues, reflecting changes in product availability and shifts in clinical practice.

It includes updated safety guidance on cyclo-oxygenase-2 selective inhibitors, advice relating to the withdrawal of co-proxamol, updated childhood immunisation schedules and updated advice on oral infections, septicaemia, meningitis and endocarditis. A new inclusion is cardiovascular risk prediction charts.
