Patient safety is focus for new Parliamentary group

Patient safety is the focus for a Parliamentary group which was launched earlier this month.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Patient Safety, which comprises MPs, patient groups and representatives from the Department of Health and NHS, aims to raise awareness of and find solutions to patient safety issues in the NHS, including clinical negligence and drug safety.

The group, chaired by Howard Stoate MP, will meet several times a year to generate recommendations to the Government on how patient safety can be improved. Forthcoming issues to be debated are likely to include technology, medication errors and the provision of a safe working environment for health care professionals.

The group’s website can be accessed at www.patient-safety.org.uk
