Medicines use review

April Fool?

From Mr S. Bajaria, MRPharmS

Did anyone else notice the absence of medicines use review forms at their pharmacies on the morning of 1 April? I understood that all community pharmacies would receive a batch of MUR forms by that date so that they would be able to start advance services provided they complied with accreditation and premises requirements.

I did not receive any. The helpful National Pharmaceutical Association information desk told me that they would need to be ordered. But from where? The Department of Health could not help immediately. The Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee advised me either to download them or contact my local primary care trust. And my PCT is still waiting for proper guidance from the DoH concerning requirements for advanced services. So let me get this right. I have 12 months to complete a maximum of 200 MURs, but no materials or guidance on how and when to proceed.

Is this a new contract or an April Fool?
