Ranbaxy settles price fixing claim with the Department of Health

Ranbaxy, one of the generics companies being sued by the Department of Health over allegations of price fixing and overcharging, has reached an out-of-court settlement with the Government.

It has agreed to pay the DoH £4.5m with no admission of liability. The company is also to co-operate with ongoing investigations.

Turning up the pressure on other companies that the DoH is suing, Jim Gee, DoH director of counter fraud services, said that an institutional shareholder of one of the remaining defendant companies had approached the DoH because it is worried about the impact the case is having on share prices.
