MHRA rules that Wyeth undermined the CSM
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency has upheld
a complaint against Wyeth regarding Efexor (venlafaxine).
The complaint was that representatives of Wyeth had distributed material
that cast doubt on the validity of the Committee on Safety of Medicines
recommendation to restrict the use of Efexor, openly questioned the CSM’s
safety advice and misquoted National Institute for Clinical Excellence
guidance to favour Efexor. Wyeth has withdrawn the misleading information
pack and has carried out its own investigation into this complaint and
reviewed its procedures. |
