Pharmacists will be reimbursed for patient returns of Bextra

All Bextra (valdecoxib) tablets should be returned through normal return goods channels for credit following the drug’s suspension (PJ, 16 April, p441), Pfizer advised pharmacists last week.

The company is also asking pharmacists to accept patient returns of unused Bextra and to compensate patients who have paid a prescription charge. Pfizer says it will reimburse pharmacists for reasonable expenses incurred in assisting patients prescribed Bextra in handling returns. The company has agreed with wholesalers to credit return in original trade packaging, including partial packs.

Further details regarding the return of Bextra tablets and claiming of expenses are available from Pfizer’s customer service team on 01304 645262 and regarding medication and therapy from its medical information group on 01737 331111.
