Pharmacy chemotherapy unit opened at Christie

Mike RichardsA new pharmacy unit that will provide chemotherapy to patients at Christie Hospital in Manchester was opened last week by Mike Richards (pictured), national cancer director at the Department of Health.

The unit is operated and staffed by Baxter Healthcare, a third party provider of chemotherapy to the Christie and other local hospitals. It will help meet demand for increased capacity in cancer care by providing 70,000 doses of chemotherapy per year, with the capacity to increase this over the next 10 years.
