Shipman witness wins award

Duncan White, the police chemist inspection officer who gave evidence to the Shipman Inquiry, has been commended for his work by the Association of Chief Police Officers’ drugs committee. Norfolk chief constable Andy Hayman said that Detective Constable White, who is secretary of the National Association of Chemist Inspection Officers, is a focal point for helping the development of chemist inspection officers nationally.

Since the inquiry, DC White has been part of a national working party considering a recommendation that an independent drugs inspectorate be formed. The inspectorate is expected to be formed early next year.
