Submit oxygen cylinder audits, say NPA and PSNC

Contractors are being urged to submit audits of their oxygen cylinder holdings to BOC by 31 May.

The National Pharmaceutical Association and the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee both issued statements last week requesting that pharmacists reconcile cylinder holdings. They also reported that BOC intends to start charging rental on cylinders shortly (PJ, 2 April, p383) but will only charge contractors who have not carried out a proper audit and sent in their results.

A spokeswoman for the NPA added that BOC is being reasonable in terms of cylinder discrepancies, with most contractors having deficiencies written off.
