Special interest pharmacists to get contract frameworks

Contracting frameworks for pharmacists with a special interest in particular aspects of health care are to be developed by the NHS primary care contracting team.

Beth Taylor, project lead for the Pharmacists with a Special Interest scheme, said: “The introduction of Pharmacists with a Special Interest is another step forward in the delivery of integrated primary care. We are looking forward to working with the Department of Health, primary care trusts, strategic health authorities and the pharmacy profession to develop this framework for local implementation.”

The new frameworks will be developed from frameworks that have already been introduced for other health workers, including GPs, nurses and allied health professions.
