Hemant Patel elected President, Gerald Alexander Vice-President

At the first meeting of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s new Council, on 7 June, Hemant Patel was elected President of the Society, Gerald Alexander was elected Vice-President and John Jolley was re-elected Treasurer.

Mr Patel, who was vice-president for 2003–04, succeeds Nicholas Wood as President. Mr Wood chose not to seek election to the new Council. Mr Patel has been president once before, in 1998–99.

Mr Alexander succeeds Mr Patel as Vice-President.

The Council also reappointed Ann Lewis as secretary of the Society.
