Pharmacy needs greater autonomy in Scotland
The importance of greater autonomy for Scotland’s pharmacists was stressed by Angela Timoney, chairman of the Society’s Scottish Executive, at an executive meeting on 6 June.
She highlighted the opportunities offered by supplementary prescribing
and confirmed that the Society in Scotland was actively consulting on
independent prescribing, believing that pharmacists should in principle
be able to prescribe any medicine for any condition within their bounds
of competency.
Mrs Timoney was speaking after being elected chairman for a second year.
Rose-Marie Parr was re-elected vice-chairman.
