Society summary

Two distinguished pharmacists designated as fellows of the Society

Two pharmacists have been designated as fellows of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society by the Society’s panel of fellows. They are Dorothy Anderson, of Edinburgh, and Mahesh Sodha, of Chelmsford.

The following brief biographical information is based on material provided by the panel of fellows to assist in identifying the pharmacists concerned. It does not necessarily represent the reasons for their designation as fellows.

Dorothy Anderson, who registered in 1975, is a director of ADL Consulting Ltd. She is a former director of the NHS Common Services Agency in Scotland, and of its pharmacy practice and dental practice divisions. She has also been principal pharmacist in the Lothian Drug Information Centre at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, acting director of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry in Scotland and a non-executive member of the Health Technology Board for Scotland. She has chaired the Society’s Edinburgh and Lothians branch and has been an honorary lecturer on the University of Strathclyde course leading to an MSc or clinical diploma in clinical pharmacy.

Mahesh Sodha, who registered in 1977, has been a community pharmacist for more than 25 years. He contributed a chapter on palliative care to the Pharmaceutical Press publication ‘Medicines in the elderly’ and has also contributed to the development of a distance learning module for the University of Derby. At the 1999 British Pharmaceutical Conference he presented a research poster on symptom control in hospices. He has also had research published in the British Journal of Community Nursing. He has represented the Society on the national clinical reference group of NHS Direct.
