Birdsgrove House

Future of Birdsgrove House

From Mr W. T. Brookes, FRPharmS

I would like to discuss the issue of the future of Birdsgrove House. When I raised the matter at the pre-AGM meeting, the response from Bernard Kelly was that a report was expected at the end of June, following which Council would come to a decision. It is my view and that of others that this decision making process should involve the membership, and that any options on the table should be made available to members for their consideration. It is all too easy for such matters to bypass ordinary members.

I therefore urge all those who spoke to me about this after the discussion last month, who agreed with my concerns and all those out there who feel the same, to raise the matter locally with Council members and in the pages of the PJ. Council will not have an easy decision to make so do let them know what you think. Unless you do — and maybe because you do (!) we will lose a facility which has helped so many members over the years.

Bernard Kelly asked for ideas on how to meet this challenge. £350,000 is less than £10 per member. Perhaps worth a thought.
