Appointments to Council committees

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Appointments Panel has announced the composition of the Council’s committees for 2005–06, as follows. All appointees are members of Council unless otherwise stated.

Education Graham Phillips (chairman), Jonathan Buisson (deputy chairman), Stephen Denyer, Ray Jobling, Lesley Morgan, Andrew McCoig. The co-opted heads of schools of pharmacy are Keith Wilson of Aston University (deputy to be announced) and Larry Gifford of Manchester University (deputy Terence Healey, Robert Gordon University). The co-opted experts in vocational training are Mark Brennan (deputy L Johnson) and Sheila Phillips (deputy Barbara Wensworth). The chairman of the British Pharmaceutical Students Association is an ex officio member.

Law and Ethics Douglas Simpson (chairman), Martin Astbury (deputy chairman), Sultan Dajani, Phillida Entwistle, Sylvia Hikins, Alan Kershaw, Bharat Nathwani, David Thomson, Stephen Wells. Bob Michell (chairman, Animal Medicines Committee) serves ex officio.

Practice Sultan Dajani (chairman), Davan Eustace (deputy chairman), Dorothy Drury, John Gentle, Marcia Saunders, David Thomson, Stephen Wells.

Science Stephen Denyer (chairman), Corinne Hunt (deputy chairman), Lorna Jacobs, John Jolley, Bob Michell, Colin Ranshaw. The Conference Science Chairman (currently Duncan Craig, University of East Anglia) and the chairman of the Academic Pharmacy Group (currently Tommy Dolan of Pfizer) serve as co-opted members, as do Bill Dawson (Bionet) and John Smart (head of Brighton school of pharmacy).

Infringements Phillida Entwistle (chairman), Seema Agha (deputy chairman), John Hanlon, Michael Schofield, Shiv Bagga, John Gentle, Corinne Hunt, Andrew McCoig, Colin Ranshaw.

Other appointments The panel has also made appointments to the Society’s Adjudicating Committee, Animal Medicines Committee, Conference Committee, Governance Committee and Remuneration Committee. It has appointed Council representatives on the committees of Society’s membership and special interst groups. The panel has also appointed Council members to represent the Society within the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Steering Group on Regulation of Support Staff and the Pharmacy Sector Committee.
