Generics-UK settles price-fixing case for £12m

Generics UK has agreed to pay £12m to the NHS to bring to an end civil proceedings over the Department of Health’s price fixing claim against the company.

The settlement is made without admission of liability and Generics UK has agreed to co-operate with the NHS Counter Fraud Services in connection with continuing claims regarding alleged price fixing arrangements between various generics companies.
Jim Gee, director of the NHS CFS, said: “This settlement brings our recoveries from the first two of the defendant companies to settle to £16.5m.”

He urged remaining companies to settle outstanding claims, adding: “We are determined to recover the NHS’s losses and shall do so with the benefit of all the evidence available to us.”
