£0.5m for drug errors project

A research project to measure the prevalence of medication errors in nursing homes has received £505,000 funding from the Patient Safety Research Programme. It is a collaboration between the London School of Pharmacy and Leeds and Surrey universities and will involve a clinical pharmacist undertaking medicines reviews to identify prescribing, monitoring, dispensing, administration and interface errors. The project will look at causes of errors and develop possible solutions.
