New title for secretary of Welsh Executive

Cath O'Brien

Cath O’Brien: invaluable experience

Cath O’Brien, secretary of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Welsh Executive, has been given a new title — director for Wales.

The change follows a recommendation of the Society’s Devolution Review Group that the director of the Scottish Department and the secretary to the Welsh Executive should have common titles and equivalent roles (PJ, 12 February, p185).

Ms O’Brien returned to the Welsh Executive on 4 July after a five-month secondment to the Health and Social Care Directorate of the Welsh Assembly Government. While there she worked on the development of care pathways for sufferers of chronic illnesses (PJ, 12 February, p192).

Commenting on her return, Ms O’Brien said that her secondment had proved invaluable and she was looking forward to using the experience and knowledge she had gained for the benefit of the Society and the pharmacy profession.
