A pharmacy designed to incorporate the latest thinking in delivery of health services has opened next door to a medical centre, which itself rents space from the pharmacy’s owner.

Hassan Argomandkhah’s Numark pharmacy was officially opened by Eddie O’Hara, MP for Knowsley, and Rosemary Hawley, chairman of Knowsley Primary Care Trust, last week. Also present were President of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Hemant Patel and Mayor of Halewood Andy Moorhead.

Mr Argomandkhah told The Journal that he came to develop the medical centre and pharmacy site after developers decided the small site would not be profitable enough for their purposes.

“Although independent, the GP practice and pharmacy complement each other and work towards delivering improved services to the patients in the community,” he said. Mr Argomandkhah added that he was not prepared to sacrifice his vision of how pharmacy should be practised by opting for a small dispensary within a medical centre.
