Fee proposal designed to meet members’ concerns

Concessionary fees included in the proposed new fee structure for members of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (see p199) have been introduced to take on board the concerns expressed by members, says the Society’s Treasurer, John Jolley.

Speaking after the August Council meeting, the Treasurer said: “The Council has had a long and thoughtful debate about the issue of the structure for fees and the level of fees for 2006. We were mindful to take on board the concerns that had been raised by the members while ensuring that the Society’s income stream remains at a level that can sustain our activities as a regulatory and professional body.

“I am confident that the decisions we have taken strike the right balance between providing support for members, while allowing us to progress with our five-year financial strategy. This will help secure the future financial health of the Society by allowing us to establish a level of reserves to protect us against the unknown challenges of the future.”
