Chemotherapy for obese women

Chemotherapy doses for obese women with oestrogen receptor-negative breast cancer should not be reduced routinely, say researchers.

Clinicians often reduce chemotherapy doses in this group of women because of concerns about toxicity, but this practice was found to be detrimental in women whose tumours are low in oestrogen receptors. The study was published online in The Lancet on 24 August.
