Reciprocity

Society scared to challenge EU policy

From Ms A. C. Empson, MRPharmS

The reasons given by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society for ending the reciprocity with New Zealand and Australia are so weak that they are not reasons at all.

I cannot see why the current arrangements can be thought of as discriminatory — who by and how can they be so?

In New Zealand and Australia our training is probably similar to the UK, and must have been originally based on the UK system. We also speak English as our first language. Is the Society so spineless that it cannot stand up for itself (and us) over something that has been working well for so long?

Do not end a perfectly good arrangement which benefits both sides just because you are scared to challenge EU policy (whatever that may be).

Andrea Empson
