Benzodiazepines for withdrawal

Benzodiazepines offer an 84 per cent decrease in risk of seizures related to alcohol withdrawal compared with placebo, a Cochrane systematic review has concluded. However, the authors say that there are insufficient data to conclude whether benzodiazepines are more effective than other drugs used in alcohol withdrawal.
