Animal insulin should remain available, DoH says

Animal insulin should continue to be available, the Department of Health believes, it was announced recently.

“The Department of Health fully accepts that some people are better suited to animal insulin, and that animal insulin should continue to be available,” Health Minister Jane Kennedy said.

She added that Novo Nordisk will not now be making a final decision about withdrawing porcine insulin until 2006.
