NHS counter fraud strategy published for Scotland
Tackling fraud in NHS Scotland is the subject of a new strategy launched
by the Scottish Executive this week.
It concentrates on creating an anti-fraud culture, with objectives such
as focusing on deterrence, developing prevention measures and seeking
redress when fraud has been committed. NHS Scotland Counter Fraud Services,
which developed the strategy with the Scottish Executive, has saved the
NHS in Scotland £10.7m since it was established in 2000.
The strategy says that no distinction will be made in the treatment of
fraudsters according to the positions they occupy, be they cleaners or
clinicians.
A major focus of the strategy is deterrence through strong procedures
and enforcement. |
