Injection frequency does not affect treatment satisfaction

Patients’ treatment satisfaction is not affected by whether injections are once- or twice-daily, a study presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes in Athens last month has shown. In the trial, 233 insulin-naive people with type 2 diabetes were randomised to receive, along with metformin, either twice-daily or once-daily insulin. More patients on twice-daily treatment reached HbA1c targets and the authors argue that a trade-off between patient satisfaction and treatment efficacy may not be necessary.
