Parallel importers call for “market” to be redefined

European competition rules need to be changed to ease parallel trade in pharmaceuticals, the European Association of Euro-Pharmaceutical Companies has said.
In particular, the EAEPC wants the definition of a market to include only a single product. Currently, therapeutically similar products are grouped together. This, an EAEPC report says, does not recognise that there is little possibility of another product being substituted for that which is originally prescribed or ordered from a wholesaler.
