PCT takes up LIFT complaint

Newham Primary Care Trust has confirmed that it is investigating a complaint made by Trevor Hadley of Anthony's Pharmacy against the PCT and North East London Local Pharmaceutical Committee (PJ, 24 September, p364 PDF (70K)).

A spokesman for the PCT said that the complaint was made against the PCT and LPC regarding arrangements relating to the consortium providing pharmacy services at a Local Implementation Finance Trust development. A manager from another PCT is carrying out the investigation.

Mr Hadley alleged that the LPC and PCT had prearranged the allocation of a new pharmacy in relation to the LIFT-funded development with the express aim of excluding his business.

Correction
Newham Primary Care Trust is investigating a complaint against the PCT alone and not the PCT and North East London Local Pharmaceutical Committee.
