Agenda for Change almost fully implemented in the NHS

Most NHS staff in England have now been moved to Agenda for Change pay scales and terms and conditions.

The Department of Health announced this week that more than 800,000 NHS staff (87 per cent) had been assimilated to the new pay scales. Assimilation of all staff is expected to be complete by the end of the year, with back pay under the new agreement being payable from 1 October 2004.

Pay and terms and conditions for cleaners and porters — and other so-called soft facilities staff — are to be updated from October 2006 in line with the AfC pay deal.
