Tribute

Angell In a tribute to the late Matthew Nicholas Angell (PJ, 15 October, p497), JOHN MORRIS writes:

I first had the pleasure of working with this rather special man shortly after I qualified, having been transferred in the 1960s to the Boots branch in Jersey. Matt was there temporarily as deputy manager and he welcomed his new young and inexperienced recruit like a long-lost brother. Nothing ever fazed him and he always remained cool, calm and in control, no matter what the crisis. He taught his staff by example, instilled confidence and was always a fountain of knowledge. Everyone was treated as an equal and I certainly left Jersey a better pharmacist and a better person under his guidance and friendship. I’m sure many could claim the same during his lifespan of 92 years.

I send my sincere condolences to his family.
