New joint organisation for pharmacists in Scotland

Two Scottish pharmacy bodies plan to come together to form a single organisation to represent community pharmacists in Scotland.

Under the proposals announced this week, the Scottish Pharmaceutical Federation, which represents community pharmacies, will wind up at the end of this year and transfer its assets to the Scottish Pharmaceutical General Council, the body that negotiates on behalf of contractors. Two representatives of the SPF will become voting members of the SPGC standing committee for the remainder of the current term.

Both the SPGC standing committee and the SPF executive council are unanimously supporting the proposals.
