Rural health toolkit launched
A toolkit has been developed to help commissioners of health care services ensure they do not exclude residents in rural areas from fair access to services.
The Institute of Rural Health’s toolkit, “Rural
proofing toolkit for primary healthcare organisations”, has been jointly
funded by the Government departments for environment, food and rural
affairs, and of health. It includes examples of good practice and covers
primary care, community care, specialist services and hospital care,
as well as areas that the institute say are often overlooked in commissioning
health services in rural areas, including transport and access to services.
The toolkit is available from the Institute of Rural Health’s website |
