Last chance to return pharmacy workforce census form

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society has issued a reminder to members that the closing date for returning completed 2005 pharmacy workforce census forms is Tuesday 1 November.

Census forms were sent to every pharmacist with a registered address in Britain — a total of 42,010. To date, around 23,000 responses have been received, giving a response rate so far of around 55 per cent.

The Society wants to hear from all pharmacists who received a form, whether they are delivering care for patients directly, providing technical or advisory services, working in a management or strategic role, using pharmaceutical skills within industry or contributing to pharmacy education.

Equally importantly, the Society wants to hear from those who are in part-time work, those who are not working at all and those who are working in fields outside pharmacy. It is important for the Society to know whether or not such pharmacists intend to return to pharmacy practice, because this is an important aspect of workforce planning.

Further information about the census is available from the Society’s registration division (tel 020 7572 2322, e-mail registration@rpsgb.org).
