Society campaign will encourage members of public to visit pharmacies
for sexual health advice
As part of its contribution to the 2005
Ask About Medicines Week, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society will be running a major awareness campaign to encourage members of the public to visit their local pharmacy for advice on sexual health.
The campaign, entitled “Ask about sexual health”, will involve
an intensive local and national media push, the Society says. The Society
hopes that pharmacists across Britain will be interviewed in newspapers,
on radio and on television to “drive the message home”. The
Society says that the campaign comes at an important time, with sexual
health high on the Government’s agenda. It points out that research
undertaken earlier this year by the Developing Patient Partnerships organisation
showed that more than half of young adults prefer to get information
or advice from their local pharmacy.
A leaflet has been published in association with the campaign. These are free
for pharmacists and other health care professionals (post and packing charge £6
per order). More information about the leaflet is available by telephoning 020
7572 2335 or e-mailing pr@rpsgb.org. A Welsh language version of the leaflet
is also available.
