Technicians' register hits 2,000 mark
Over 2,000 pharmacy technicians have now joined the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's voluntary register of pharmacy technicians. Of them, 72 per cent work in community pharmacy and 24 per cent in hospital.
Janet Flint, the Society’s head of support staff regulation, said: “We
are delighted with the continuing high level of interest of pharmacy
technicians in joining the voluntary register. Since the beginning of
October in particular, there has been a real increase in the number of
pharmacy technicians on the voluntary register.”
Following confirmation of their registration, all pharmacy technicians
will receive a certificate of registration and copies of The Pharmaceutical
Journal will be sent to them weekly. Registered pharmacy technicians
will also receive a copy of the leaflet, “Information for registered
pharmacy technicians”. In the month following their registration,
practising pharmacy technicians will be sent a continuing professional
development pack containing full details of the Society’s CPD framework.
