Alliance Pharmacy has its say on NHS development

Pharmacists from the Alliance Pharmacy chain have made suggestions to the Department of Health about how pharmacy services could be improved.

They met Peter Howitt, from the DoH White Paper development team, at the end of October to discuss current and future roles of community pharmacists and their teams in primary care. All the pharmacists involved had experience of working on local pharmaceutical committees or the professional executive committees of primary care trusts.

“Our pharmacists were able to give specific examples of where community pharmacies are already delivering innovative primary care services,” said Jonathan Buisson, NHS strategy manager for Alliance Pharmacy.

“We were also able to register our concerns about some of the planned changes to the organisation of primary care in England and the way in which these could be altered to allow community pharmacies to play a full part in future primary care services.”
