An online exhibition about the history of women in pharmacy has been added to the website of
the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's museum.
The exhibition, “Celebrating women in pharmacy”, has been
created to tie in with the with the centenary of the National Association
of Women Pharmacists, which held its first public meeting on 17 October
1905.
The exhibition combines an overview of the main events in the development
of women’s roles in pharmacy, with a more in-depth look at some
of the leading individuals involved. It also contains sections examining
attitudes to women pharmacists from the 19th and 20th centuries.
Briony Hudson, keeper of the museum collections, said: “Adding
an exhibition about women’s history in pharmacy to the website
is a perfect way to make the fascinating story available to a wider audience.”
Monica Rose, president of the NAWP, congratulated the Society’s
museum staff on a detailed and interesting exhibition.
