New pharmaceutical calculations workbook

Pharmaceutical Calculations WorkbookA pharmaceutical calculations workbook is now available from the Pharmaceutical Press (the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's publishing division) as a companion self-study aid to the second edition of ‘Introduction to pharmaceutical calculations’, published earlier this year (PJ, 19 March, p342).

Written by pharmacy teachers Judith Rees and Ian Smith from the University of Manchester, it contains calculations (with answers) similar to those that might be presented in pharmacy examinations and in practice. Each section contains a variety of exercises which give the opportunity to practise calculations using the methods covered in ‘Introduction to pharmaceutical calculations’. The sections cover calculations involving rational numbers, systems of units, concentrations, dilutions, formulations, doses, density, displacement volumes and values, molecular weights and parenteral solutions.

The 240-page paperback book costs £19.95. UK orders can be placed by telephone (01767 604 971), fax (01767 601 640) or e-mail (rps@turpin-distribution.com) or through the Pharmaceutical Press website
